But, First, a Sailboat Detour

On our way back to Canada, we first had to take a detour so my partner’s sailboat could be hauled out of the water for a quick fix. We woke early near a beach that anyone would be blessed to call home, feeling gratitude for loved ones and this natural wonder they look over. We sailed around its lighthouse, large kelp bed, and tidal rip current. De Nada from Homer, Alaska, gave a hearty wave. We rounded a favorite wild island and made our way through commercial shipping activity that, bundled with the wind, created waves so huge they tried to slam us over and over into our dock. We had arrived. Miraculously, I didn’t try to capture that.
