Fort Bragg, California

When I travel to Fort Bragg, California, it’s not just to see Glass Beach. I actually travel to Fort Bragg when we’re camping near Mendocino and I need to tackle weekly chores. Fort Bragg is the closest location with services. And after a lot of trial and error, I’ve finally organized my Fort Bragg days to feel a little more peaceful: I visit Harvest Market in the quiet morning hours to gather vegan + gf groceries, a few deli items, and to appreciate their excellent sale prices. Lucy’s Laundry, managed by a kind attendant, is where I wash and dry clothes. I order Mediterranean takeaway from Craving Grill (they veganize + gf upon request; lots of special sauces included; I don’t normally eat food with added oil; it’s literally behind the gas station with the sweetest family; we eat it at the beach). Then I stroll through Fort Bragg’s old town to see the local arts, read the community billboard, tune into the Noyo Bida Truth Projectand think about how beautiful this area was when it was occupied by the Indigenous.
