As my three-month visit near Oak Harbor ended, I drove to the Skagit Valley tulip fields. I couldn't arrive at the fields until near the end of the day, but I just had to see them.
As a child, this was one of my favorite family trips—going to see the tulips during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. However, heavy crowds and clogged traffic can make visits exhausting and keep some family members from participating in this trip altogether.
Upon arrival, I couldn't believe my eyes. Only a lone photographer was in sight. No other humans were there.
What a gift. Mid-week. Off-hour. A serene walk along the tulip fields.
A meditative experience.
