I couldn't arrive at the fields until the end of the day, but I just had to see them.
Because, as a child, this was one of my favorite family trips—going to see the tulips during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. However, heavy crowds and clogged traffic could make visits exhausting (and keep some family members from participating in this trip altogether).
Upon arrival, I couldn't believe my eyes. Only a lone photographer was in sight. No other humans were there.
I never realized this was possible.
What a gift. Mid-week. Off-hour. The calm of the tulip fields.
